Sebastian Sylvester 33-3 (16) successfully retained his IBF middleweight crown with a 10th round stoppage of tough but limited substitute Billy Lyell 21-8 (4). Lyell came in as a late subsitute for Pablo Vavascues who failed a drugs test.

Sylvester was just in a different league to the American who despite scoring an upset win over John Duddy last year has on every other occasion been beaten when fighting at world level.

Lyell tried his best and threw plenty of punches but the power and accuracy belonged to Sylvester who regularly jolted Lyell with jabs and one-two’s.

As each round passed the fight got more and more one sided and finally in the 10th round Lyell’s trainer entered the ring to bring the conclusion of the bout. Whilst Lyell was not particularly in any trouble, the point had well passed where he still had a chance and without a big punch he was only heading for more punishment.

In the main bout from the undercard popular Karo Murat 21-0 (13) easily retained his WBO Inter-Continental light heavyweight title when destroying Guyanan Sean Corbin 13-2 (9) in two rounds. Murat was way too good and Corbin was rescued near the end of the second round after being dumped on the canvas for the second time in the bout.
