Felix Sturm 33-2-1 (14), the WBA middleweight champion with 7 successful defences behind him in his 3rd reign as a middleweight champion has announced that he wants a unification bout with WBC and WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik 36-1 (32)

Sturm who is now promoted by Golden Boy Promotions (subject to a legal bid from German promoters Universum) said that he would be ready for the big fight in May or June.

The bout would be a clash of styles with Sturm looking to use mobility and his jab against the power punching Pavlik.

Sturm has also said that he is currently weighing in at over 190lbs which would make him eligible to fight at cruiserweight! Sturm who is now 30 years old should take heed of the boxing adage that putting on too much weight between fights shortens careers.
