Audley Harrison's latest title dream has been wiped out after European champion Albert Sosnowski pulled out of their fight when being handed a shot at Vitali Klitschko's world title.

British-based Polish fighter Sosnowski was due to take on Harrison in London in April to defend his European Boxing Union heavyweight championship.

However, that fight has now been scrapped after the 31-year-old was given the chance to fight for Klitschko's WBC world heavyweight title in May.

The two men will battle on May 29 in Schalke's football stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in Klitschko's latest defence of his crown.

"He is experienced, he is fast and he is a tough boxer who will try everything to take my belt. But I will not let it happen," Klitschko said in a statement. "I promise all fans an unforgettable evening."


Sosnowski says that 38-year-old Klitschko is past his best, and is delighted to be given the chance to fight for a world title.

"It's a dream come true," he said. "Because of the Harrison fight I am already in training and suddenly here comes the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight Klitschko.

"I want to thank him and his team for giving me that opportunity which I will definitely take.

"For me, Klitschko is already over the hill. I know that I am the underdog for everybody, but I tell you, Klitschko will regret that he picked me.

"Many Polish and Germans with Polish roots live in the Gelsenkirchen area and I hope that they will support me. I will be the first Polish heavyweight champion of the world."



Sosnowski, who has 45 wins, two defeats and a draw on his professional record, will have broken Harrison's latest hopes of climbing to the top of the heavyweight ranks.

After saving his career by winning Prizefighter, Harrison believed claiming Sosnowski's European title would help him secure a world title showdown with either Klitschko.

Vitali's brother Wladimir defend his WBO,IBF and IBO world heavyweight titles against Eddie Chambers on March 20.

Really poor fight for Vitali, beating Sosnowski will do nothing to add value legacy-wise, but I guess the contest will prove a prolific ticket-selling one, which I suppose is why Vitali persists in the sport still. Lousy bout all round IMO, I hope Audley gets the fight with Dimitrenko.

Yeah i agree that Sosnowski will probably be no match for Vitali. However, he always come in shape, he fights to win, has improved dramatically in the last year. He won win but there is a lot to like about Sosnowski.

Ok. Sosnowski is an unknow man, but in the last Fight from Vitaly we see all that he is over the hill right now.

And so it's equal now what for a Fighter Vitaly for the fist become, all are more motivated then ever, because all smell

her big chance right now.

I'm sure Sosnowski go fearless in the Fight and Vitaly comes a little bit in trouble but will win the Fight by SD.

Vitaly your time is really over and it's better to retire now.

I don't now really sure what will happen with a Fight between you and Haye....

He may not be a big name but the division is truggling for credible fights. Would have love to seen Vitaly take on Valuev just to see him cope with taking on a bigger fighter and not having the reach and size advantage that he has had in recent fights. The last time he took on opponents his own size he got badly rocked by Sanders adn stopped by Lewis. Not saying he would lose to Valuev but Vitaly has picked sensibly since returning to the ring.

I'm disappointed in Klitschko's selection of Sosnowski as his next opponent, the heavyweight division isn't filled with talent but I'm sure he could've picked a more deserving guy than Sosnowski. Klitschko shouldn't have problems with Sosnowski at all.

im tired of seeing this guy ko bums no wonder his ko ratio is so great he fights guys that either can't hurt him (johnson) or guys that have power but no skill (arreola)
