Lee McAllister 30-2 (7) makes the second defence of his Commonwealth lightweight
title tomorrow against Ghanaian Sam Amoalo 6-0 (2). McAllister won the crown last
March when stopping Godfriend Sowah in three before stopping Charlie King in seven
last October.
McAllister who often fights in his hometown of Aberdeen will travel to Glasgow tomorrow night. McAllister is a good fighter who performed well above expected levels when losing to John Murray in a bid for the British title.
What can we expect from Amoalo? Well it is impossible to tell. He won his professional debut with an 8 rounds points win over an opponent with a 9-2-1 record but the combined records of his last 5 opponents are a pathetic 1-20. He could be good or he could be poor. It is difficult to make a judgement but it is hard to see McAllister losing his title in his home country.
There are some decent Scottish prospects on the undercard. Davey Savage jnr. 9-0 (2) fights for the Scottish area super bantamweight title against Gary Reid 6-4-1 (3). Gary McArthur the 13-1 (1) lightweight, Stevie McGuire a 14-1-1 (4) super middleweight who recently lost for the British title as well as Kris Carslaw 7-0 (1), Jamie McLevy 5-0 (2) and Paul McElhinney who also appear.
