As previously reported on Fight Franchise, once Danny Williams had pulled out of their scheduled British heavyweight title clash, it was going to be difficult to match Derek Chisora 11-0 (6) with a tough opponent. Frank Warren straight away went on the offensive and said he would match Chisora with an opponent who had previously beaten Williams.

We knew it wouldn’t be Vitali Klitschko, Julius Francis, Audley or Sosnowski (fighting each other) which didn’t leave many options.

I gave the hint that I expected Carl “The Fridge” Baker 9-4 (6) to be in the opposing corner and was correct. Baker of course shocked Danny Williams in the Prizefighter tournament and so gets this chance in what will be an eliminator for the British title. I am not overly happy with this match up. Baker is a massive man at over 20 stone and could catch Chisora in the first two rounds. However Baker has no stamina and this fight in my opinion will be a mismatch after these early stages.

Chisora put it pretty well himself, “Full respect to Baker for agreeing to the fight, but there’s only one winner, and that’s me!”
