Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico

Nehomar Cermeño retained his WBA interim bantamweight by repeating his win over former unified super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares 36-6-2(15).

Cermeño of Panama outpointed Mijares in March via majority decision, but this time he erased any doubts as he won by unanimous decision.

The final scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112 all for Cermeño who brings his record to 18-0 with 10 knockouts.

For Mijares, who was on the pound for pound lists and one of the few unified champions in the sport last year at this time, it marks the third consecutive loss and might end his days as a top contender.

On the undercard of the Cermeño-Mijares bout, unbeaten heavyweight David Rodriguez moved his record to 32-0 with 30 knockouts as he stopped veteran Robert Davis 32-11(29) by third round knockout.

Rodriguez of El Paso Texas is ready to move up in competition and Davis who started his career with a 22-0 record, has gone 10-11 since and should start considering a day job.
